Xavier College
As part of a transformative phase at Xavier College, Kew, the lighting design for the new Year 7 and 8 Building was meticulously crafted to align with the College’s vision of dynamic, student-centered learning environments.
Following the strategic Master Plan, the lighting design plays a pivotal role in enhancing the architectural intent of the new Kostka Building, serving as both a functional and inspirational element that complements the educational journey.
The design emphasizes natural and artificial light integration through a multistorey learning street that frames views of the College’s iconic Memorial Chapel. The lighting not only
enhances the architectural features but also fosters a sense of discovery and connection throughout the space, inviting students and staff to engage with their surroundings.
Central to the concept is the promotion of social connection through carefully curated lighting solutions in learning neighbourhoods, supporting various learning styles—from small groups and individuals to larger class settings. The lighting
design enhances these adaptable spaces, creating an inviting and stimulating environment for both informal and structured learning experiences.
