Forum Melbourne

A creative, award winning lighting scheme to update this iconic Melbourne building. Introducing a new modern element yet highlighting the historical integrity of this important building.

The main criteria were ensuring that the originality of the historic building was retained and that no light fittings in themselves became the feature. The clients requested that subtle ingress lighting was required in addition to lots of subtle layers and accent lighting to highlight the

original features of the building.

The interior was meticulously refurbished by locally artisans to ensure the bones of the building remain exactly how patrons know and love this historical venue. This included the removal of the west wall which hid a small unused bar/ kitchen area that was demolished and the wall and all its original features including the original lighting and iconic Forum busts were moved 5 meters back to ensure the original integrity of the interior was retained.

With all the discreet refurbishments and hard work by all the construction team the building conveys the same feeling as it has for the last 90 years. This was important to the owners, locals and patrons that the building remained in essence the same as it has for nearly a century but with a newer fresher feel.
