321 Exhibition St, Melbourne
321 Exhibition Street is a large multi office building that have had numerous renovations over the years, resulting in a mish-mash of styles and lighting. The first priority was to create a professional yet ambient and welcoming feel when one first steps into the vast lobby space.
The vastness of the lobby required high levels of general light which was then offset with ambient timber wall washing. The inclusion of the bespoke glass globes in the planters reduces the feeling of height and creates an enticing and ambient entry for workers passing through the building.
Lighting was used to designate areas of rest and reflection, whilst the lighting in the lift lobbies has visual impact to naturally lead and guide people to the lifts. The EOT were washed with vertical lighting elements to cancel out the feeling of being underground. The custom-made mirrors were illuminated with a matching ceiling band to really create a wow factor in the space yet be functional for facial lighting. The Yoga space is illuminated with a soft and ambient Barisal ceiling that gives a sense of ease and relaxation.
